When I delivered the finished picture the young C, one year old at that time, started to run and jump with joy recognizing her beloved mother.

Based on numerous old photographs from the 1920s-30s this picture was painted to remember a very special person.

To capture the soul of your sitter sometimes is more complicated than it sounds. Many years ago this little fellow was a real survivor, born with numerous problems the doctors were struggling for  his life for months. Then he became a gorgeous little boy, fourth child in a loving family.
